Will of James Hardin Halifax County NC In the Name of God amen. I, James Hardin of Halifax County and State of North Carolina, being weak of body of perfect sound Sense and Memory, thanks be to God for the Same, do make and Ordain this to be my Last Will & Testament, Viz., I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God who gave it, and my body to be decently buried at the direction of my Executors, and as to my worldly estate, I give, demise and bequeath in the following manner, Viz., It is my desire that there should be as much of my property sold ___ settle my just debts. I give unto my Caring Wife Elizabeth Hardin one Negro Girl, named Luz. Also one negro boy, named Jack also One bay Horse, and one bay filly, also three of the best cows and calves, also fifteen head of Hogs. & two feather beds & furniture & all the Corn that shall be made the present year, that shall come to my share. Also one Cast Iron Corn Wheele. Brother? & Pesltus?; it is my desire that one negro wench named Nan, & one grey horse, one Cow & Calf, one Can and bottles One pair of Cast Wheels, Nine barrels, two plow Hoes. and one half share should be sold, and equally Divided between my loving brother John Hardin and my Sister Elizabeth Hardin, & my Sister Elander Hardin. all the remainder of my Estate I give unto my loving Wife Elizabeth Hardin. Lastly I do appoint and empower my two friends? Elizabeth Hardin and Benjamin Pally to be my whole & sole Executors of this my last will and testament and so revoking other will and testaments; ratify and confirming this to be my last will & Testament.
