1791 Will of William Hardin of Halifax County State of No. Carolina } Halifax County } Wednesday about three Oclock, P.M. the 30th March 1791 -- Matthew Howell and Ann Lowe, being fist sworn, on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God -- deporteth and sayeth. that William Harden departed this life about five O'clock yesterday afternoon. and a short time before his death, being perfectly in his Senses, & they think of a disposing mind and memory, verbally bequeathed his property as followeth Viz. He gave to his Sister Mary Hardin one Cow & Yearling. To his brother John Hardin he gave one Negro boy Named Joe. The Hogs lent to James Bamas: Some Corn. Some Working-tools & some money -- to his Sister Elizabeth Harden, He gave his grey mare -- to his Sister Nelly Harden he gave one Negro woman named Easter and one bed. And to John Lowe he gave five pounds -- The rest of his Estate not given away, said William Harden desired might be equally divided between Elizabeth Hardin widow of James Hardin decd. his Sisters Mary, Elizabeth, Nelly, & his brother John--Sworn to before me, at John Lowe's in the aforesaid County the day and time above written. Shadrack Rutland J.P. Halifax County__ May Session 1791. This the Nuncupative Will was exhibited in Open Court and duly found by the Oath of Matthew Howell & Ann Lowe, the Witnesses thereto, & on motion Ordered to be Recorded.
