Gabriel Hardin to John Hardin This indenture made this 20th day of October in the year of Our Lord 1770 between Gabriel Harding of the County of Cumberland County and Province of North Carolina of the one part and John Harding of the County and Province aforesaid of the other part. Witness that the said Gabriel Hardin for and in consideration of the sum of 50 pounds Proclamation Money to him ... give grant and confirm unto the said John Hardin ... a certain tract or mouty of land containing 80 acres be the same more or less lying and being in the County of Cumberland in North Carolina and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a Spanish Oak at the Rocky Ford thence along the patent line to the Spring Branch then down the said Branch to a corner tree thence along a row of marked trees to a sugar tree on the River Bank thence down the River to the beginning To have and to hold the said 80 acres of land according to estimation... Gabriel Hardin doth further promise covenant and agree that the above said lands and premises is free and clear of all other gifts grants titles dowrys or rents and from all manner of encumbrances whatever the yearly rents due our Sovereign Lord the King his heirs and successors only excepted. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written.
